PK2 penciling begins

With the script all done i have started penciling the pages to my Peacekeeper series. Excited to be going back to my original style of penciling, thanks to a good friend for reminding me that i was still working in a cartoon style because of an earlier project i was working on.

Saint2 promo art creation process!

Decided to repost this promo art for the upcoming Saint2 comic but i wanted to show the steps i used to create it since after all that is the point of this blog. I am still experimenting with my coloring but was pleased with at least 90 percent of how it turned out, mainly due to my limited coloring knowledge but i am working everyday to get better, watch you will see.

the inks on this puppy were pretty simple and since i decide on placement of most of the black areas when i do the marker comp i can kinda just trust my layout.
the sexiest part of the design is always for me the pencils, yes i am and always will be a penciler first.

even though i like what i had with the original marker comp i remembered the General character has a scar on the right side of his face and so i decided to flip the top characters so that i could show this very important character trait. Also i wasnt so pleased with the face of the main character at the bottom center so after finding some cool reference i went in an adjusted this at this time. I have found that the more time you spend in the layout process the better the end results and less aggravation envolved.

i usually start with a thumbnail design of the layout but decided to go straight into the character arrangement here all sharpie marker style...the text serves as a placeholder.

H.I.S work in progress!

This is part of a bigger painting i am currently working on for my Hoodratz in Space comic series but found the purple color scheme interesting enough to do a side by side comparison, still not sure but decided to post this for now as a work in progress...i will post the final painting as soon as its finished.

Concept Friday!

After taking some advice from my mentor and good friend i have been spending at least one day a week to do concept work mainly to build up my portfolio and practice new techniques and lately it has been at the end of the week on friday! so i have decide to call it Concept Friday for the sake of making it an even better way to end my week and it is something that i now look forward to every week now. On the sketches above i wanted to work on adding detail to armor, designing on top of a pre-existing drawing and improving my digital sketching ability. Looking forward to my next digital concept sketches next friday!

Black Panther is such a cool and mysterious Marvel character to me so i decided to tinker just a little with his design while i am still working on my coloring.

Marveling!

My take on one of the coolest Marvel characters ever created Deadpool. Really wanted to play around with coloring and work on something mainstream.
same with Spiderman, wanted to work on my coloring and work on something mainstream, may have to do more mainstream stuff if i continue to enjoy it this much.

Who is Hank Houston?

Ran across an advertisement looking for an artist to do a web comic entitled
Hank Houston, since they requested only one page i decided to give it a spin.
Here is the final colored page.
here is the grey toned under painting, this is a great way to adjust lights and darks also very helpful when learning to color. Im still working to improve my use of colors but not far away from getting good at it.

Throwd productions!

Feeling pretty good about the Throwd comic and still loving how model: Jamechia Duncan brought the character Zasha Brown to life. With so much planned for this property i am always working to bring more of this story to fans of this series.
